Navy SEAL and Delta Force are both designated as Special Mission Units. Navy Seal teams are from the Navy's Special Warfare Group SPECGRU and are designated as a Special Operation Force SOF. Whereas the Delta Force is from the Army and designated as Special Froces Operation Detachment SFOD. US Delta Force: the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, popularly known as 'Delta Force' is the equivalent of the Navy SEALs in the US Army. It was created in 1977 by the Green Beret Charles Beckwith and ever since the Delta Force has participated in many high profile military and counter-terrorism missions worldwide, for instance in Grenada, Panama, Afghanistan, Iraq and Lybia.

First off, how people define 'Delta Force', and 'Navy SEAL's'are quite different.There are two primary entities of the 'Special Forces' communitywithin the U.S. Those entities are 'SOCOM' - Special OperationsCommand, and 'JSOC' - Joint Special Operations Command.JSOC units are inherently prioritised, or in your words 'moreelite', than those of SOCOM.The official name for what you're referring as 'Delta Force' isArmy Compartmented Elements, which is part of SOCOM.
